چکیده

These studies are based on the solvent System N,N-dimethylacetamide (DMAc)/LiCl which is used, e. g., for the determination of the molecular weight distribution of cellulosic Substrates by size exclusion chromatography (SEC).. Results are presented on static and dynamic laser-light-stattering experiments carried out in the concentration range employed in SEC and discussed in terms of the solution state. The influence of two different methods of cellulose activation (swelling in water and liquid ammonia followed by a solvent exchange) was investigated. Cellulose samples with high or low molecular mass were examined. In dependence on the concentrations of salt and celluilose during the dissolution process a molecular dispersion of the cellulose could be fotmd in diluted solutions.

In this study, novel photocatalyst monolith materials were successfully fabricated by a non-solvent induced phase separation (NIPS) technique. By adding a certain amount of ethyl acetate (as non-solvent) into a cellulose/LiCl/N,N-dimethylacetamide (DMAc) solution, and successively adding titanium dioxide (TiO₂) nanoparticles (NPs), cellulose/TiO₂ composite monoliths with hierarchically porous s...

Cellulose degradation in pulp fibers studied as changes in molar mass distributions

In this thesis, size-exclusion chromatography (SEC) of wood polymers dissolved in lithium chloride/N,N-dimethylacetamide (LiCl/DMAc) has been used to characterize the molar mass distributions (MMD) of wood polymers in pulp fibers after chemical degradation. Characterization of birch kraft pulps subjected to ozone degradation and acid hydrolysis, respectively, rendered different changes in the M...

Synthesis and Characterization of Cellulose-silica Composite Fiber in Ethanol/water Mixed Solvents

Cellulose-silica composite fiber samples have been successfully synthesized using cellulose solution, tetraethoxysilane, and NH3•H2O in ethanol/water mixed solvents at room temperature for 24 h. The cellulose solution was previously prepared by the dissolution of microcrystalline cellulose in a solvent mixture of N,N-dimethylacetamide (DMAc)/lithium chloride (LiCl). The effect of the tetraethox...

Simple chemical transformation of lignocellulosic biomass into furans for fuels and chemicals.

Lignocellulosic biomass is a plentiful and renewable resource for fuels and chemicals. Despite this potential, nearly all renewable fuels and chemicals are now produced from edible resources, such as starch, sugars, and oils; the challenges imposed by notoriously recalcitrant and heterogeneous lignocellulosic feedstocks have made their production from nonfood biomass inefficient and uneconomica...
